International Yoga Day
Mar 11th 2025
Today, June 21st, is International Yoga Day, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate!
There is no better time to practice yoga than during the week of its very own international holiday. Spend this week celebrating your favorite activity with friends and family or enjoy the special day alone by trying a new yoga class or treating yourself to new equipment. International Yoga Day is a day worth celebrating, and we’ve come up with a few easy and fun ways to do so.
1.Bring a guest to class or introduce a friend to yoga
Yoga is always better with good company by your side. Take the opportunity this week to invite a friend to class with you, especially if they’ve never done yoga before. Not only will they appreciate the offer, but their presence will bring fun and excitement to your regular yoga routine. They might love it, and you could have a new workout partner! Plus, you’re guaranteed to get a better ab workout from laughing along the way. Yoga benefits
2.Try a new class
There are so many different types of yoga classes available. How many different classes have you thought about trying but never gotten around to? Well, now is your time to check them off your list. Whether you discover a new class at your gym or try a new studio for the day, participating in something different can be fun and exciting. You might consider doing hot yoga or goat yoga. Heated yoga can improve flexibility and help you burn more calories, and goat yoga… well there are goats! Go out of your comfort zone this International Yoga Day and venture into a new kind of flow.
3.Run a yoga class for your kids and family

Share what you love with those you love! Instead of trying to bring the whole family into a studio, come up with your own flow at home. Lay some mats or blankets out in the living room and teach the family a few of your favorite poses. You could even come up with calming music to play in the background to enhance the experience. Family yoga night is a great way to connect with each other and enjoy the holiday. Your kids will love being able to practice yoga and having you as their instructor will make the night even more fun.
4.Reconnect with those across the globe through a video chat yoga session
It is “International” Yoga Day after all. Give a call to faraway family or friends and invite them to join a virtual yoga session with you. Simply find a video of a flow you like on the internet and share your screen with others on the video call. You can all follow along from home and talk to one another through the screen, making it feel like you are right next to each other. This is a great way to connect with those across the world and to let them know you are thinking of them. A yoga session is way more exciting than a regular phone call, and you can get the entire family involved.
5.Treat yourself to new yoga equipment and Yoga poses
What better way to celebrate a holiday than with gifts? This International Yoga Day, treat yourself a new yoga mat, bolster, or whatever other equipment you’ve been eyeing. You deserve it. Keep browsing through Sunshineyoga.com to find just what you need to celebrate yoga today and forever!
